Advance Passenger Information System

The U.S. Customs Service developed an Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) in 1988, in cooperation with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and the airline industry. APIS participants collect passenger's biographical data (name, date-of-birth, etc.) at the time of departure and transmit the data to Customs while the flight is en route.

Skyservice Airlines is a member of APIS. Sheer Vision built an automated system that takes a data feed from the airline tour operators (Sunquest, Conquest VacationsSignature Vacations, etc.) in the form of a Passenger Manifest. This file is then formatted via a secure wizard-driven web-application, into an Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport (EDIFACT) layout. A system developed by the United Nations. This data is sent to the U.S. Customs Data Center while the flight is en route to its U.S. destination.

Aircraft Scheduling Suite

Skyservice’s Operations Department requires aircraft scheduling information to be accessible from their Intranet. The existing system did not allow online viewing of data. Sheer Vision worked with the IT Department to develop and deploy an automated online search and reporting system that displays aircraft scheduling information. The application integrates information from Oasis, a desktop aircraft scheduling software, into a suitable data storage area that is securely accessed from the online application. The users are able to choose a criteria of aircrafts they wish to view, as well as print reports that maintenance staff use to plan their daily jobs.

Flight Information

Skyservice staff required access to crucial flight information for both internal and external needs. This application is primarily used by the flight arrival and departure call center to answer flight questions from the general public. Through this Intranet application employee’s can retrieve flight departure and arrival information in Zulu and Local time, the number of passengers, the flight number and status, as well as identify crew members. There is also the added flexibility to select specific airports, flight dates, and customize how the data is displayed.

Overview

The DOC application is used to house data entered from the contracted and fuel rate sheets. Using the data from FliteTrac, the application applies the flight data against the contracted and fuel rates to produce service, accrual, and fuel reports.

The application includes an audit trail of all transactions in the system made by users. When the application fails, the support team is notified by email and the information can also be viewed on the automated and web error reports.

Contracted Rates Management

This module allows for the management of:

  • Region(s)
  • Airport(s)
  • Aircraft(s)
  • Service(s)

The data is entered by the user with the information coming from the contracted rates sheets. The users can add, update, delete, copy, move, and batch process the service rates. Each transaction is recorded and the audit trail can be viewed by clicking on the user history button (which is for each contracted rate record). Once the end period has been surpassed, the service is then placed into a read only state so the data history is preserved. Even when a record is deleted, it is still in the database, nothing becomes permanently deleted in the system.

Services Management

This module allows for storage of service types. This prevents the miss spelling of services and ease of data entry. Users are able to search on services, add new ones, update existing, and delete (disable) ones that are no longer needed.

Fuel Rate Management

The fuel rate section allows the user to upload and manage the fuel rates based on their IATA codes.

From an Excel sheet, the user uploads the data into the system. This data can be added to, updated, or set to inactive. The data is in the system is used by the Console application to calculate the cost of fuel based on the quantity of fuel entered in FliteTrac.

System Users

This is the system user management area where a user with Full Control rights can add, update, and disable users.
